Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2011

Dr. Michael Teo Yu Keng

MoCS is proud of Dr Michael Teo and supporters in Miri

Miri PKR chairman Dr Michael Teo and several supporters went ‘red’ last Saturday (Aug 13) in support of MoCS’s ‘Red Rally’ that day.
MoCS is proud of Dr Teo’s effort in promoting the ‘Walk for Democracy and Reform’ organized by the movement to further its agenda for democratic reforms and good governance in Sarawak.
Although the Red Rally was cancelled at the eleventh hour due to security reasons and a restraining order against MoCS leaders, Miri PKR’s superb effort and moral support for the movement is commendable and truly appreciated.
Dr Teo was the first Pakatan candidate to be endorsed by MoCS for the April 16 state election. His endorsement was announced by MoCS leader Francis Paul Siah in Miri on Jan 16 this year, three months before the elections.
He was also one of the three speakers of the MoCS Forum on Democratic Reforms held in Miri on Jan 29 this year. The other two were Sarawak DAP chairman Wong Ho Leng and Siah.
Dr Teo contested in Senadin and lost only by a whisker 58 votes to BN’s Lee Kim Shin.
MoCS hopes Dr Teo will be fielded by PKR in the coming general election and makes his way to Parliament. The movement will again back Dr Teo if he is selected. – MoCS

RED SATURDAY

Today many people all over Sarawak are protesting against Taib Mahmud as a corrupt and dishonest leader and request him to step down as the vast majority of Sarawak people have no confidence in him anymore. They wear red in support of MoCS marches in Kuching. In any real democratic country peaceful rally are allowed. We are disappoint police in Kuching are made used off to stop a peaceful rally today. We are disappointed MACC have not release to the public the result of the investigation into the properties owned by Taib Mahmud and his family.

PR rejects use of biometrics by EC

YELLOW SATURDAY: Pakatan Rakyat members in yellow attire on Saturday at the DAP Piasau service centre.
Dr. Michael Teo PKR Miri Branch Chairman

MIRI: Barisan Nasional (BN)’s argument that Pakatan Rakyat (PR) could not have won five states during the 12th general election in 2008 if the elections were not clean and fair is only half-truth.
PKR communications director Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad reasoned: “If the Election Commission (EC) and election processes were completely fair and clean, we might have won more.”
Nik Nazmi said this on Saturday at a press conference held at the DAP Piasau Service Centre here to make clear PR’s stand on the EC’s use of biometrics technology to register voters.
He told the reporters present that PR had rejected the use of biometrics since day one.
In fact, PAS spiritual advisor Nik Aziz had also rejected the use of biometrics when it was first introduced by the EC for its voter-registration exercise.
“EC kept rejecting the use of the proven indelible ink solution which we have been championing. They are now introducing the unproven biometrics technology even though we did not ask for it,” he said.
Among those present were PKR Miri chief Dr Michael Teo, state PKR Youth secretary Zulhaidah Suboh, state PKR Youth political bureau chief Abun Sui Anyit, DAP assemblymen Fong Pau Teck (Pujut) and Alan Ling Sie Kiong (Piasau).
Nik Nazmi said PR was worried that the biometrics system would be abused, especially on foreign workers.
“In states like Selangor with a large foreign workforce, this may lead to many foreign permanent resident (PR) holders suddenly getting MyKads,” alleged Nazmi, who is also Seri Setia assemblyman.
Meanwhile, Nik Nazmi and his PR colleagues vowed to continue holding “Yellow Saturdays”, where PR supporters will wear yellow attire every Saturday, to press home the need for fair and clean elections.
