MalaysiaKini - Pakatan Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) is planning to file an election petition to challenge the result for the Senadin seat in yesterday's state polls.Its candidate Michael Teo Yu Keng (pic) lost by a razor thin margin of 58 votes against Lee Kim Shin of BN.
PKR vice-president Tian Chua expressed his displeasure over the refusal of the Returning Officer (RO) Chai Ko Het for a recount of votes at the tallying centre in Miri last night.
"We are not happy, he (Chai) has not given us a valid reason on why he refused," he told reporters.
BN's Datuk Lee Kim Shin secured a total of 7,334 votes to defeat Teo who managed to garner 7,276 votes.
Unhappy with the result, PKR supporters as well as Selangor exco member Elizabeth Wong refused to leave the stadium used as the tallying centre three hours after the result was announced, demanding Chai hold a recount.
